Effective 10 September 2026Last updated : 10 September 2026

Hero Taxi collects the minimum needed to pick you up at the right place, at the right time. We sell nothing, we track no one, and there are no advertising cookies on this site.

1Language

This English version is provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the French version governs.

2Who we are

This site is operated by Haroun Riad, carrying on business under the name Hero Taxi, a taxi service based in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec.

In this policy, "we" means Hero Taxi and "you" means the person using the site or booking a ride.

3Privacy officer

Under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, the person responsible for the protection of personal information is:

Haroun Riad, founder and owner. Email: reservation@herotaxi.ca. Phone: 514-806-6036.

Contact this person with any question about this policy, or to access, correct or delete your information.

4What we collect

What you give us in the booking form

  • Your name and phone number — required, so we can reach you and confirm the ride.
  • Your email address — optional, so we can reach you in writing if we can't get you on the phone.
  • Pickup and drop-off addresses.
  • Date and time requested, and trip type (one way, round trip, recurring).
  • Number of passengers.
  • Your notes, if you add any — a flight number, a building code, a mobility detail. Please don't include sensitive information we don't need.
  • Your language, so we answer you in French or English.

What is calculated automatically

From the two addresses, the site calculates and stores the distance, the estimated duration, the coordinates of both points, and the price range you were shown. This is used to plan the schedule and to record what price you were quoted.

Bookings made by phone

If you book by calling, the driver enters the same information into the same system. Calls are not recorded or transcribed.

Technical information

When you request an estimate, your IP address is held in memory for 60 seconds, only to stop a bot from firing off hundreds of requests. It is never written to our database and expires on its own.

Our host keeps standard technical access logs, as any web server does.

5Why we collect it

  • To call you back and confirm your ride.
  • To pick you up at the right address, at the right time, and drive you to your destination.
  • To show you a price estimate before you decide.
  • To organise the driver's schedule and avoid double-booking.
  • To keep our accounting and tax records.

We use your information for no other purpose. No profiling, no targeted advertising, no automated decisions about you.

6Your consent

By completing and sending the booking form, or giving us this information by phone, you consent to our using it for the purposes above.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us. If you withdraw it before a booked ride, we will not be able to provide the service — we need your name, number and addresses to come and get you.

7What we don't do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
  • We do not run targeted advertising and send nothing to ad networks.
  • The public site sets no tracking or advertising cookies.
  • We store no payment information: you pay in the vehicle, and the terminal belongs to the payment provider.

8Who we share it with

We use a few providers to run the site and the service. Each receives only what it needs, and none may use it for their own purposes.

ProviderWhat it receivesWhy
SupabaseThe complete bookingDatabase, hosted in Canada (Montreal region)
VercelThe form contents when you submitSite hosting and request processing
Mapping serviceThe two addresses, without your name or numberAddress recognition, distance and duration

We may also disclose information where the law requires it — a court order, for example.

9Where your information is kept

The database holding your bookings is hosted in Canada, in the Montreal region.

However, some of our providers process information on servers located outside Quebec, including in the United States: site hosting and route calculation. Your information is then subject to the laws of those countries, whose authorities may in certain circumstances gain access to it.

We choose established providers who are contractually bound to protect this information and not to use it for their own purposes.

10How long we keep it

  • Bookings — 24 months after the ride date, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Accounting records (amounts collected, payment method) — six years, as tax authorities require.
  • Your IP address — 60 seconds, in memory only.

You may ask us to delete your information sooner, subject to what the law requires us to keep.

11How we protect it

  • The entire site is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
  • The database enforces strict access rules: the public form can write a booking but cannot read any.
  • Only the driver, authenticated by password, can view bookings.
  • The form is protected against bots and limits how many requests it accepts per minute.

No system is perfectly secure, but these measures are proportionate to the information involved.

12Cookies

The public site — the pages you use to book — sets no cookies.

One cookie exists, in the private driver section: it keeps the driver signed in after entering a password. It does not concern you.

13Your rights

Quebec law gives you the following rights. Write to us to exercise any of them:

  • Access — obtain the information we hold about you.
  • Correction — have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
  • Withdrawal of consent and deletion of your information.
  • Portability — receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
  • De-indexing — request that information about you stop being disseminated, in the cases the law provides.

Write to reservation@herotaxi.ca. We respond within 30 days, free of charge. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

14If something goes wrong

Should a confidentiality incident occur that presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information promptly. We keep a register of all incidents, as the law requires.

15Minors

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their information. A ride for a minor must be booked by a parent or guardian.

16Changes

We may update this policy. The update date appears at the top of the page. Significant changes will be flagged on the site.

17Contact us — and how to complain

Questions: reservation@herotaxi.ca or 514-806-6036.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, which oversees the application of the law.
